Secret Equalizer
There are additional adjustments you can make to the Bose settings following these instructions. Note: When using this adjustment method, set your generic knob-adjustable bass, treble and midrange settings to neutral.
- Turn off radio.
- At the same time, press and hold the button 5 and the power button.
- You should get a screen that says 55555555. Each number effects an audio attribute.
- Turn the volume dial to change the value.
- Press P-Scan to move to the next number.
- See chart below for which position effects which audio element, change as desired.
- Turn off the radio and turn it back on, and you should notice a big difference.
Position Meanings
- 1 - Front Low Bass
- 2 - Front Mid Bass
- 3 - Front Midrange
- 4 - Front Treble
- 5 - Rear Bass
- 6 - Rear Low Bass
- 7 - Rear Mid Bass
- 8 - Rear Treble

If you think you can't tell a difference when you make changes, try the following settings 11991199 followed by 11111111. If you still can't tell, you should probably get your hearing checked.
Radio Details
Phatbox
A Kenwood Phatbox system comes as an option in these cars. You can easily swap out a disc changer for a phatbox. A phatbox (at the time of writing this) can be purchased on ebay for around $250 or so. A phatbox is a mp3 player that uses data cartridges that can be connected to a computer via a usb cradle. Cartridge capacities may vary, but can be as much as 20GB. Load up the cartridge with your music collection, plug the cartridge into your phatbox and you're good to go.
